Fernandes Set For Man Utd Exit? Saudis 'Take' First Steps

Saudi Arabia has reportedly taken the first steps to potentially luring under-fire Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to the Middle East.

According to transfer expert Rudy Galetti, Saudi's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has arranged for a meeting to be held with the Portuguese playmaker's representatives over a big-money move at the end of the season.

The PIF, who own some of the biggest teams in the Saudi Pro League, caused a major disruption in Europe in the previous transfer window, following the acquisition of a number of prominent players.

The likes of Karim Benzema, Neymar, Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez all bid farewell to their respective clubs in order to ply their trade in the Gulf state, and it appears that Fernandes has been added to the Saudis' list of targets for the next off-season window.

The news comes at a time when the 29-year-old is facing much criticism after assuming captaincy responsibilities at Old Trafford.

The attacking midfielder has been scrutinised by many within the media for his performances as well as his demeanour during United matches, and it seems the PIF is looking to take advantage of the uneasiness surrounding the former Sporting CP skipper.

It looks like forward-thinking midfielders are hot commodities for the Saudis, with another Manchester-based playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, having also been mooted as a possible target.
