According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club have shown interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Panagiotis Retsos.
The defender, who was born in Johannesburg in 1998, has been in fantastic form for Leverkusen following his arrival from Olympiacos at the start of the season.
Retsos was available to play for Bafana Bafana before making his international debut for Greece's senior team in August last year.
Barca might be looking at the 19-year-old as one for the future, considering the fact that defenders Gerard Pique and Thomas Vermaelen are both in their 30s.
