LaLiga Report: Real Madrid v Levante 12 May 2022

LaLiga champions Real Madrid finally got their guard of honour as they got back to winning ways with a 6-0 thrashing of Levate on Thursday night.

Result: Real Madrid 6-0 Levante

Date: 12 May 2022

Venue: Santiago Bernabeu

Los Blancos recalled the majority of their regulars after a narrow loss to Atletico Madrid, including goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.

Madrid came out with guns blazing in the opening exchanges, as Ferland Mendy gave them the lead in the 13th minute with a clinical low strike past goalkeeper Daniel Cardenas after a sublime ball over the top by Luka Modric.

Federico Valverde had a shot for the hosts a couple of minutes later that hit the post and Ricocheted off the other post across goal before Benzema eventually doubled their lead three minutes later with a header at the back post.

While Levante offered nothing going forward, Rodrygo extended the advantage for Carlo Ancelotti's charges ten minutes before the halftime break with a tap-in from Modric's cross.

There was enough time for Los Blancos to get a fourth goal on the stroke of halftime, with Vinicius finding the back of the net from a tight angle after combining with Modric, who had three assists on the night.

Los Blancos remained on the front foot from the half-ime break as Modric had a chance within five minutes to get on the scoresheet himself but his curling effort was parried around the post by Cardenas.

Vinicius managed to get his second and Los Blancos' fifth 22 minutes before time with a simple tap-in after Benzema rounded Cardenas from a through ball and played a square pass.

The Italian tactician refreshed his side with a double change in the last quarter of an hour, as Toni Kroos replaced Modric in midfield and Luka Jovic took the place of Benzema up top.

With Levante were dead and buried, Vinicius  took the opportunity to complete his hat-trick seven minutes before time with a low strike under Cardenas to wrap up an emphatic win.
