Barcelona has confirmed a new sponsorship deal that will see the club's iconic home ground renamed.
Report: African Star Seals Move To Barca
Barca confirmed Tuesday that it had signed a four-year deal with audio streaming service Spotify.
As part of the agreement, Spotify will be the first stadium sponsor of the Blaugrana and the Swedish-based company's logo will appear on the kits of both the men's and women's teams. The club's historical home ground will now be called Spotify Camp Nou.
Neither the Catalan giants nor Spotify has disclosed the financial specifics of the deal, but according to Catalan radio station Rac1, the deal is worth an estimated €280 million (R4.6 billion).
Spotify's owner, Daniel Ek, has appeared to be trying to move into football recently, with an attempt to purchase Arsenal not materialising in late 2021.
Barca only started having sponsors on their shirts as recently as 2011 when they signed the single richest deal for a shirt sponsor in the history of world football at the time with the Qatari Foundation.
"Spotify and FC Barcelona will be working together to create opportunities for the iconic shirt to become a space that can celebrate artists from across the world. As part of the collaboration, for the very first time in the Club's history, the Stadium will be rebranded as Spotify Camp Nou. The vision for the partnership is to create a new platform to help artists interact with FC Barcelona's global community of fans," an official statement read.
