The Catalans' bitter rivals Real have also been busy, even though they are expected to spend much more. So far, their €50 million (R802 million) acquisition of FC Porto defender Eder Militao is the third-most expensive deal of the window, followed by the €45 million (R722 million) they spent on Brazilian striker Rodrygo Goes.

Wolverhamton Wanderers activated their €38 million (R610 million) option to buy Raul Jimenez permanently after the Mexican impressed with 17 goals and eight assists while on loan with the Premier League side in 2018/19.

In Benjamin Pavard, Bayern secured another 2018 World Cup winner, spending €35 million (R562 million) for his services. The Stuttgart centre-back is followed by Bayer Leverkusen's €32 million (R513 million) outlay for Kerem Demirbay, while the last three spots are all covered by Borussia Dortmund signings.
