The highest-valued free agent is Ander Herrera, who is estimated to be worth €25 million (R400 million) by Transfermarkt.

The former Manchester United midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but his deal has somewhat surprisingly not been announced yet, despite his Red Devils contract expiring on Sunday.

Mario Balotelli is also on the free transfers market after his deal with Olympique Marseille came to an end. The 28-year-old, who scored eight goals in Ligue 1 last season, is rumoured to be set for a return to Serie A.

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno are also on the hunt for a new team after they were released by the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League winners, while Gary Cahill left Chelsea after seven years with the Blues, having ended his Stamford Bridge career with the UEFA Europa League title.

Former Bayern Munich duo Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery, who was linked with a shock move to Premier league newbies Sheffield United, were both released by the German giants and are still looking for new clubs.

Dani Alves and Gianluigi Buffon left PSG this week, while Thomas Vermaelen's five-year stint with FC Barcelona came to an end as well. Similar to his Brazil teammate Alves, Filipe Luis is also now without a club, but is focusing on the Copa America.
