De Bruyne Writes Off Belgium's World Cup Chances

De Bruyne Writes Off Belgium's World Cup Chances

Belgium star Kevin de Bruyne has written off his side's chances of winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Red Devils are the second-highest ranked side in world football but are yet to win a major international trophy.

Frustrated De Bruyne: Belgium Can't Play Like Manchester City

Roberto Martinez's side finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Brazil, but they have lost a couple of key players in recent years.

"I think our chance was 2018. We have a good team, but it is ageing.' The Man City star told The Guardian.

"We lost some key players. We have some good new players coming, but they are not at the level other players were in 2018. I see us more as outsiders."

The Belgians started the World Cup with a narrow 1-0 win over Canada this week, but they now take on African giants Morocco.

There has been good news on the injury front for Belgium, who welcomed all-time top scorer Romelu Lukaku back to training.

"I don't know how he is, he has been training with us and also apart these days. I must admit that he is a player who helps the team a lot, you can feel his presence on the pitch," De Bruyne said.

"I don't even know if he will be there against Morocco, but if he were to start from the bench he would be an extra weapon in the game."
