Bale Speaks After World Cup Elimination

Ex-Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has revealed his feelings after Wales crashed out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night.

The Dragons' 3-0 defeat to the Three Lions confirmed their elimination from the tournament in the Middle East, after they failed to win any of their three group games.

Wales' jubilation following qualification for the World Cup for the first time since 1958 was not matched with their performances on the field as they registered just a single goal in Group B.

Bale, the scorer of that goal, believes there are still positives to take away from what the team achieved to get to Qatar, however.

"Everyone is disappointed. I think we're all proud of what we've achieved to get here. We have to look at how far we've come," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.

"Of course, we would have loved to have gone past the group but football is difficult.

"Teams go through good runs and bad runs, and we didn't quite live up to our expectations this tournament.

"But we'll take massive experience from it and, going forward, we need to look at how far we've come.

"To be at a World Cup, if you'd asked us that two years ago, we'd have all pinched ourselves. It's disappointing to go out but we'll all walk out of that changing room with our heads held high and proud of each other."

Bale's future with Wales appears uncertain at the moment, with there being many suggestions the 33-year-old could soon hang up his international boots.
