African Star Makes World Cup History For Ghana

Mohammed Kudus

The star of Ghana's 3-2 2022 FIFA World Cup victory over South Korea made history for the Black Stars with his match-winning brace.

Bruno Reacts To Ronaldo Trying To Claim His Goal

On Monday afternoon, Mohammed Kudus announced himself on the world's biggest football stage when he found the back of the net in either half to help Ghana secure their first win at the World Cup in Qatar.

First, the Ajax Amsterdam man headed in the west Africans' second of the game in the 34th minute, before scoring a decisive second after half-time to ensure Otto Addo's charges walked away with all three points.

With his exploits, the attacking midfielder made history in becoming the first Ghanaian player in World Cup history to score two goals in the same game.

The 22-year-old's goals also mean that, so far, only Bruno Fernandes and Kylian Mbappe have had more goals involvements at the tournament than the young African star's three (two goals and one assist).

After the match, Ghana head coach Addo was full of praise for the Right to Dream academy graduate.

"He contributed so much to our win  he's a great player, although he's very young and has a lot to learn," the former midfielder told reporters, as per the Daily Mirror.

"He's fast, good in one-on-ones, intelligent, but he has to work more defensively."

Kudus' brace also saw him become the second-youngest African ever to score two goals in a World Cup match, at 22 years and 118 days, after Nigeria's Ahmed Musa scored twice against Argentina at the 2014 showpiece when he was 21 years and 254 days old.
