Official: Entire Juventus Board Leaves Serie A Giants

Italian giants Juventus have confirmed the resignation of their entire board of directors as the club once again finds itself at the centre of controversy.

Messi's Next Club Revealed?

Earlier this week, it was announced that the Bianconeri would have to put together a new board after club president Andrea Agnelli and his fellow executives handed in their resignation letters at the Turin club.

The record Serie A champions are currently being investigated by Italian authorities over alleged financial irregularities concerning transfers.

According to the BBC, the specific charges being labelled against the outgoing Juve board pertain to allegations of false accounting information presented to investors and the production of invoices for non-existent transactions.

The news follows on from an investigation that came about as a result of Juve players and former head coach Maurizio Sarri agreeing to cut their salaries during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. It appears the Italian authorities have found major irregularities, which has led to the mass resignation.

Club legend Pavel Nedved and Maurizio Arrivabene, who both joined the club's board in 2012, are also among those who have left the club. Arrivabene will, however, stay on board as CEO for the duration it takes to assemble a new board of directors.

This is not the first time the European giants find themselves marred by controversy.

Rashford Responds To Ronaldo Leaving Man Utd

In 2006, news broke that the club and its then-sporting director Luciano Moggi were at the centre of a match-fixing scandal known as Calciopoli. The titles that Juve won in 2005 and 2006 were rescinded as a result of the controversy.
