The 2025 edition of the Club World Cup is the first to be played as a 32-team tournament and will see some of the biggest teams throughout the world compete for the title of world champions.
FIFA explained that each country was only limited to two slots in the competition, meaning the likes of FC Barcelona, Liverpool, and Napoli will not be at the tournament, despite winning their respective leagues in the 2024/25 season.
The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Lionel Messi, and Harry Kane will showcase their talents in the USA, but several big-name stars will not be playing in the competition.
The most notable missing name at the competition is Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The 40-year-old was reportedly the subject of interest for many sides playing at the Club World Cup, including Al Ahly and Wydad AC, but chose to stay at Al-Nassr instead.
Fresh off scoring 34 goals for Liverpool last season, Mohamed Salah will also not be at the tournament as the reigning English champions are not eligible due to Man City and Chelsea's participation.
