Bayern Munich 10-0 Auckland City
Bayern Munich made a statement in their opening FIFA Club World Cup clash by thumping Auckland City 10-0 on Sunday evening.
Coach Vincent Kompany handed an official debut to defender Jonathan Tah following his move from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.
The Bavarians needed just six minutes to get the breakthrough as Tah nodded the ball back into the six-yard area, where Kingsley Coman was on hand to headed home.
The lead was doubled on 18 minutes when Coman turned provider by knocking the ball into the path of Sacha Boey, who took one touch before volleying into the far corner.
Bayern quickly took over the contest as Michael Olise added a third goal two minutes later before Coman added his second and the team's fourth goal on 21 minutes.
The Citizens were able to bag a fifth goal on the stroke of halftime through Thomas Muller's close-range strike before Olise completed his brace with a superb curling effort from distance to make it 6-0.
Kompany rang the changes in the second half, with Jamal Musiala marking his return to action and making an immediate impact by bagging two quick-fire goals to extend the lead to 8-0.
Musiala would go on to complete his hat-trick on 84 minutes after an error from the Auckland goalkeeper, before Muller rounded off the scoring five minutes later to complete his brace.
Bayern become the first team to win by a 10-goal margin in the Club World Cup.
Paris Saint-Germain 4-0 Atletico Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain started their campaign with a 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in Los Angeles.
Both sides went full strength for the opening game, despite a number of the players recently competing in the international break.
The European champions broke the deadlock on 19 minutes when Fabian RUiz pounced on a loose outside the area and sent fine strike beyond Jan Oblak.
Luis Enrique's men were able to double the lead on the stroke of halftime when Vitinha raced onto a pass from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before surging towards and firing into the far corner.
Any hopes of an Atletico comeback ended on 78 minutes when defender Clement Lenglet was sent off after picking up his second yellow card.
PSG added a third goal with three minutes left on the clock courtesy of a clinical finish from Senny Mayulu, before Lee Kang-in converted a penalty stoppage time to round off the win.
