The upcoming transfer window will be an interesting one for the Catalan giants, whose financial problems could hamper their pursuit of key targets.
Barca, however, are said to be closing in on a complete agreement for experienced Spain international Inigo Martinez.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the LaLiga leaders have turned down the opportunity to sign other centre-backs ahead of the 2023/24 campaign as they are sure the Athletic Bilbao defender will be their first new arrival going into next season.
Martinez spent the first seven years of his professional career at Real Sociedad before joining the Basque club in January 2018, in a deal worth €32 million (R620 million).
Since then, the 20-time Spain star has made 173 appearances and won the Spanish Super Cup, while he has also twice been a runner-up in the Copa del Rey.

It is expected that Martinez will join the Blaugrana as a free agent at the end of this season as the club awaits updates on their Financial Fair Play situation before closing the deal.
