The Basque club's president, Jon Uriarte, and CEO, Jon Berasategi, are reportedly in Madrid to inform the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) about Barcelona's financial operations, according to Cadena Ser.

Athletic Club is alleging that Barcelona are not following the 1:1 rule, which states that a club must spend the same amount on signings as it has generated income, whether through player sales or wage reductions.

Reports are circulating that the Red and Whites will confront the Blaugrana directly to determine whether the club can keep Williams at all costs.

Goal reported that Williams has informed the club of his intention to leave, but the club has said it has not reached any agreement with Barca over his transfer.

The 22-year-old has a release clause of just over €60 million (R1.2 billion) and his current side will allegedly stop any transfer of the player unless the Catalan side can prove it can meet the 1:1 criteria.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed there is no bad relationship with Athletic Club and revealed he was 'surprised' by the club's reaction.

"I don’t understand the reactions they are having, with all due respect, each one should look after their own," Laporta said, "I don’t understand why they are going to talk about Barça in La Liga, I don’t think it’s right, but they will know what they are doing."
