The Red Devils were eliminated in the group stage of the Club World Cup after two draws and a defeat in their three group games.
Despite being a member of the Zamalek planning committee, Mido was openly critical of Al Ahly's players in their game against Palmeiras, reportedly claiming that the players had forgotten football basics, according to Yallakora.
Mido received criticism for his comments on his rivals as a Zamalek member and said he holds a deep respect for Jose Riveiro's team.
"I have many friends who support Al Ahly, and I have strong relationships with the club’s players and legends,” he said.
"Despite my deep Zamalek affiliation, everyone knows how much I respect and appreciate Al Ahly, its players, and its fans. I’ve always said that Al Ahly is a successful model and a footballing school," the former Middlesbrough striker added.
The 42-year-old explained that his comments were taken out of context and that he was not insulting the team or the players
"I went back and watched the video again — maybe I did make a mistake," he admitted. "What I said about the Palmeiras game was that some of Al Ahly’s players struggled with the basics of football, such as build-up play, passing and receiving the ball. These issues force us to reflect on ourselves."
He shifted attention to Riveiro and said the Spaniard showed his inexperience by not changing his tactics in the game.

"Palmeiras’ coach did well to exhaust Al Ahly physically, and the match showed that Riveiro lacks experience, as he stuck with the same tactical approach throughout the entire game," he concluded.
