Venue: St James' Park

The Reds were without a recognised right-back as Arne Slot decided to play Dominik Szoboszlai in the full-back position while Curtis Jones made his first start of the season in place of Alexis Mac Allister.

The game was played at a lively pace in the early stages, with the hosts utilising the pace of Anthony Elanga and Anthony Gordon on the break while Florian Wirtz saw a bit of the ball for the visitors.

Newcastle did go close to breaking the deadlock after 27 minutes when Harvey Barnes did well to pick out Gordon in the box, but the attacker sent his header over the crossbar from around eight yards out.

Liverpool went on to take the lead ten minutes before the halftime break as Ryan Gravenberch was given time and space to find the bottom corner with a low strike from around 20 yards out.

It got worse Newcastle on the stroke of halftime when Gordon was shown a straight red card following a VAR review for his dangerous challenge on Virgil van Dijk.

The Reds took advantage a minute after the break when Cody Gakpo teed up Hugo Ekitike, who sent a first-time finish past Pope to make it three goals in three games for his new club.

However, Newcastle gave themselves some hopes just before the hour mark when Tino Livramento's cross found Bruno Guimaraes, who sent a towering header into the far corner.

The hosts go their reward with three minutes left on the clock when substitute William Osula latched onto a long-ball over the top and poked the ball beyond the on-rushing Alisson to seal a point.

With the game headed for a draw, the Reds popped up with a winning goal in the 10th minute of time added when Ngumoha finished off a superb passing move to seal the win for the visitors, becoming the club's youngest scorer in Premier League history in the process.
