Downs To Be Affected? Pep Calls Out EPL Over Fixtures

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has taken at the Premier League for rejecting their request to delay the start of next season due to the FIFA Club World.

The Citizens and Chelsea are the only two sides from England set to compete at the expanded Club World Cup in June next year.

The Premier League duo will have their off-season interrupted by the month-long tournament, which certainly affect their preparations for the 2025/26 season.

The tournament ends four weeks before the new campaign gets underway and teams are supposed to have a mandated three-week break, which leaves City and the Blues with just one week to prepare for the opening league game.

City's request to have the first two games postponed have fallen on deaf ears, according to Guardiola.
"The Premier League has not allowed us to postpone the first two games for our recovery — thank you so much,' Guardiola said sarcastically, as per Daily Mail.
"The Premier League say yes to us? No, absolutely not,' he added.
'They don't postpone these games, so that will be the moment of… oh, what do we do? I don't have an answer because I've not been there before."

A number of top players in Europe have already spoken about the problems of the international fixture schedule in the last few years.
