Manchester United boss, Louis van Gaal has explained why he respects FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

The Dutchman spoke to United's official website about his pre-season plans and the upcoming tour to the USA.
Van Gaal's side will try to defend their International Champions Cup, where they will come up against FC Barcelona, and the former Catalan boss had special praises for Messi.
"Messi proves himself nearly every game," he said.
"Despite his immense talent, he remains very modest. I like that in him and I respect Messi a lot."
Van Gaal coached Barcelona between 1997 and 2000, as well as 2002 and 2003, winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and the UEFA Super Cup with the club.

Since last season, he is now managing the Red Devils and guided them back to Champions League football, if they can make it through the final qualification round.
