Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hit back at claims that Trent Alexander-Arnold is not a good defender after the criticism this season.
The Reds full-back was called up to England squad this month, but did not play a single minute against Italy or Germany in the past week.
Southgate: Why Alexander-Arnold Was Dropped
England manager Gareth Southgate preferred Reece James and Kieran Trippier in the last two games and hinted that their overall game is ahead of Alexander-Arnold's at this moment.
While various pundits have also criticised Alexander-Arnold's defending this season, but Klopp has leaped to the defence of his full-back.
"The skillset he has, for being influential in possession, for a right-back, is mad. I don't know if we ever saw a right-back like this," Klopp said, as per Goal.
"Passing here, passing there, switching sides, free-kicks, corners, smart decisions, quick decisions, all these things. He's an outstanding football player."
"Honestly, I just don't get it. Do we just accept that a world-class talent is judged on the one thing where he is not quite as world-class as in other areas?
"If he was not a good defender he would not play. He's involved in everything and he's doing well. It's absolutely fine. We have our way, and if it doesn't fit England then yes, that's it."
