Haaland Makes Premier League History Yet Again

Haaland Makes Premier League History Yet Again

Erling Haaland once again made Premier League history after bagging a brace during Manchester City's 3-1 victory over Leeds United on Wednesday.

Kylian Mbappe Barcelona Bound?

The Norwegian marksman has picked up right where he left off in the English top flight following the 2022 FIFA World Cup hiatus, scoring three goals in two games since club football returned.

Having hit the back of the net against Liverpool in the League Cup last week, the 22-year-old put the ball past Illan Meslier twice in the second half of City's victory over Leeds to take his EPL goals tally to 20.

Having done so just 14 games into the season, this makes him the fastest player in Premier League history to reach the mark.

Following the win over Leeds, Haaland revealed that watching the World Cup from home has driven him to excel even more with the Citizens.

"I've been at home, a bit mad that I've not been at the World Cup," Haaland said after the game, as per ESPN.

"I recharged my batteries. Watching other people score to win games at the World Cup triggered, motivated and irritated me. I'm more hungry and more ready than ever.

"To be honest, I get really p****d [when he misses a chance]. That's the truth.

"But when I miss, I want to score even more.

"That's the funny thing – when I score one, it's such a good feeling I want to score another goal, so it's positive."

OFFICIAL: Chelsea's First January Signing Revealed

With Andy Cole and Alan Shearer currently holding the record for the most goals in a Premier League season with 34 strikes, the former Borussia Dortmund man is on course to eclipse it, and while the Nordic forward has admitted he has a goal target in mind, he refused to disclose it.

"I have a target but I cannot say it," Haaland added. "I just said inside the dressing room that I could have scored five, but the most important thing is that we won.

"For me, as a striker, I have to score more. I could have scored a couple more, but that's life and I have to train more."
