Ten Hag 'Speaks' To Greenwood For First Time Since Charges Were Dropped

Ten Hag 'Speaks' To Greenwood For First Time Since Charges Were Dropped

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly spoken to striker Mason Greenwood for the first time since the attempted rape charges laid against the forward were dropped.

Klopp 'Makes Decision' On Liverpool Future

Days after the Crown Prosecution Service discontinued allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault against Greenwood, the Dutch tactician is believed to have contacted the 21-year-old.

The forward was arrested in January 2022 but the charges were dropped earlier this months after it was adjudged that there was no realistic opportunity of convicting the England international.

In light of the Manchester native being absolved of the charges, The Sun has now claimed that Ten Hag called Greenwood to let him know that he was pleased to hear about the verdict.

Since being arrested, United have had minimal contact with the forward, communicating mainly through a third party, but the Dutchman is now said to have checked on the physical and mental wellbeing of the player.

The same report suggested that the 21-year-old Englishman greatly appreciated the gesture, but despite the 53-year-old manager being happy that the charges have been dropped, he is also understood to have made it clear that there would be no immediate reintegration into the squad as the club continues its own internal investigation on the matter.

Rashford Keeps Man Utd's Slim Title Hopes Alive

United's women's side recently expressed their discomfort at the possibility of Greenwood returning to the club, with that sentiment said to be shared by some of his teammates too.
