Date: 04 January 2017
Venue: White Hart Lane
Chelsea's 13-game winning run came to an end, as the Blues suffered a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday evening.
The game got off to an exciting tempo, with both sides showing their attacking intent in the opening 15 minutes.
Spurs nearly broke the deadlock after 23 minutes when N'Golo Kante's wayward pass found Christian Eriksen, who curled one inches wide of the upright from 20-yards out.
Thibaut Courtois came to Chelsea's rescue after 38 minutes, as the goalkeeper was well-positioned to deal with Jan Vertonghen's close-range header.
Spurs eventually broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime, as an un-marked Dele Alli headed home Eriksen's cross.
Alli grabbed his and Spurs' second goal after 53 minutes when the England midfielder headed home another cross from Eriksen at the far post.
Antonio Conte responded by introducing Willian for Marcos Alonso 10 minutes later, as they looked for a way back into the clash.
Chelsea pushed numbers in search for their opening goal and also threw on Cesc Fabregas and Michy Batshuayi, but were unable to bypass the Spurs defence.
The Blues remain on top spot despite suffering defeat, while Spurs leapfrog Arsenal and Manchester City into third spot.
