Manchester United suffered a shock 1-0 defeat, to relegation-threatened Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday.
Paul Pogba returned to the line up, although Marcus Rashford and Ander Herra missed out through injury.
David de Gea was called into action after just five minutes, as he produced a superb save to keep out Jonjo Shelvey's volley.
The Red Devils had to wait until the 33rd minute for their first chance, when Jesse Lingard forced Martin Dubravka into a fine save from just inside the box.
United should have been ahead three minutes later, but Anthony Martial failed to beat Dubravka in a on-one-one situation.
Jose Mourinho's men ended the half the stronger of the two sides, but they could not find a breakthrough and went into the break scoreless.
United almost went ahead 10 minutes into the second half, but Sanchez was denied by a fine block from Paul Dummet.
However, it was Newcastle who broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, when Matt Ritchie calmly slotted into the bottom corner after a well-worked set-piece.
Mourinho responded by withdrawing Pogba and Lingard for Michael Carrick and Juan Mata.
United nearly restored parity with 15 minutes left in the half , when Martial saw his two shots blocked on the line.
The Red Devils pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but Dubravka, denied them a point with a stunning save to deny Carrick in stoppage time to earn Newcastle three points.
