English Premier League Report: Arsenal 1-1 Crystal Palace 17 April 2016

Premier League Result: Arsenal 1-1 Crystal Palace Date: 17 April 2016 Venue: Emirates Stadium Arsenal missed numerous chances as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. The Gunners were given some space to work with from the start as Palace defended deep. This gave Mohamed El Nenny a chance to let rip from long range in the 21st minute, but it went well over the bar. There was a close call six minutes before the break when a free kick was curled towards the Palace goal by Alexis Sanchez. His effort took a touch off the wall and went just the wrong side of the post. Right on the stroke of half-time the hosts took the lead. Danny Welbeck sent a clever pass forward for Sanchez to run onto and he did so before heading beyond the onrushing Hennessey for a 1-0 advantage. Iwobi should have done better in the 52nd minute when a cross from Coquelin picked him out. He got on the end of it and headed goalwards from close range but couldn't find the target. Arsenal went close again around the hour mark. Mesut Ozil whipped in a splendid free kick that curled beyond the wall but went past the post as well to hit the wrong side of the net. The struggles in front of goal continued as Arsene Wenger's charges squandered another chance. Ozil's set-piece created the opening again and on this occasion Sanchez glanced his header off target. Arsenal paid for their wastefulness in the 81st minute as the Eagles levelled matters after testing Petr Cech a few minutes earlier. Yannick Bolasie found room to shoot on the edge of the box and drilled it low to beat Cech who should have done better at his near post.
