As per The Athletic, the Belgian international's camp have held talks with new MLS club San Diego FC, who will officially enter the United States' top league next season.
The team will be based in the city of San Diego in California, a place De Bruyne can reportedly see himself living in should he decide to finish his career in America.
The publication reports that De Bruyne's representatives have "held one conversation" with the club, whose ownership group is led by British-Egyptian businessman Mohamed Mansour.
It is understood that that discussion, however, has not led to a clear outcome and a potential switch for the attacking midfielder is still a long way from happening.
De Bruyne, who has a contract at the Citizens that expires in 2025, has been linked with sides in Saudi Arabia and the MLS, the popularity of which has significantly increased since the arrival of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami last year.
The midfielder is expected to start in City's FA Cup final clash against Manchester United on Saturday, having been in fine form this season since his return from injury.
