The search for the Murphy native's successor has, however, led the west Londoners on an interesting path, with the club having assessed the credentials of candidates who have recently found success in the EFL Championship.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna was a mooted potential appointment, but according to Sports Zone, the two-time European champions have decided that Leicester City's Enzo Maresca will become their next manager.
The 44-year-old Italian tactician finished this past campaign with the Foxes at the top of the EFL Championship, and he reportedly comes highly recommended by the club's sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.
Chelsea are rumoured to have favoured Maresca because of his tactical outlook and his experience of having worked alongside Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as an assistant coach.

The same report claims that the two parties are close to reaching a full agreement, Blues co-owner Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital now believed to be working on a compensation package for Leicester.
