Liverpool have reportedly seen a Premier League record €130 million (R2.6 billion) bid rejected for a German superstar they are looking to bring in.

Currently, the most expensive Premier League signing is Enzo Fernandez’s 2023 move to Chelsea. The Reds are looking to shatter that lucrative deal by acquiring the services of playmaking superstar Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Last season was his first full campaign back on the field after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury sustained during the 2021/22 season. He featured intermittently during 2022/23, but this past season he was a consistent figure for Leverkusen, playing a key role in their unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning campaign.
He enjoyed yet another stellar season, scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists, but now it seems the time has come for him to leave the BayArena — and Anfield appears to be his desired destination. The Reds are reportedly just as eager to welcome him and are willing to make history to land the Pulheim native.
According to Bild, the newly crowned English champions tabled an offer worth €130 million, but the German outfit are holding out for as much as €150 million (R3 billion) for their talisman.
The same report claims that Liverpool actually have no issue going as high as that figure. However, the only sticking point remains whether the remaining €20 million (R408 million) will be offset by one of their players moving in the opposite direction, or through the insertion of easily achievable add-ons.

It is alleged that both clubs want the deal completed as soon as possible, so it appears to be only a matter of time before Wirtz follows in the footsteps of Jeremie Frimpong and becomes the latest Leverkusen star to make his way to Merseyside.
