Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, winner of The Best FIFA Men's Player 2020 prize, has made a big admission regarding Manchester United.
The Poland international joined the German giants in 2014 after four successful years with their Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Although he has spent the past decade in Germany, Lewandowski has been linked with moves away from the country many times, with the Red Devils one of the clubs often said to have been interested in his signature.
In a recent interview, the 32-year-old revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson came knocking on his door in 2012, but Dortmund would not allow him to leave for Manchester.
"After my second year in Dortmund, I had a conversation with Sir Alex Ferguson," he told France Football.
"He wanted me to come to Manchester. I was very interested.
"I can even say I was ready. But Dortmund didn't want to let me go.
"It didn't upset me more than that because things were going well with Borussia."
Lewandowski scored 103 goals in 187 appearances for BVB, and has since found the back of the net on 266 occasions in 307 games across all competitions for Bayern.
