Former Cameroon goalkeeper Joseph-Antoine Bell says that although Mohamed Salah is among the best in the world, he won't win the Ballon d'Or this year.
Salah has been one of the standout performers in Europe this season with 15 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions so far.
While Bell does acknowledge the Egyptian forward as one of the best in the world, the former Cameroon shot-stopper feels Liverpool's trophyless 2020/21 season will work against Salah.
"There's no doubt that Salah is clearly among the best players in the world, but we have to be honest about this.
"When people talk about who should win the Ballon d'Or, they always ask, 'What did he win?' and we have to apply this to everyone.
"Salah wasn't champion of England, he wasn't champion of Africa, whereas others won things, so it makes it very hard to say that Salah deserves the Ballon d'Or more than other people."
Former AC Milan and Liberia star George Weah remains the only African player to have won the Ballon d'Or, beating out competition from Jurgen Klinsmann and Jari Litmanen in 1995.
