The Uruguayan finished as the top scorer in Europe, clinching the Golden Shoe ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Despite leading Barcelona to their second successive La Liga title and the Copa del Rey, Suarez finished fourth in the voting behind Ronaldo (1st), Messi (2nd) and Antoine Griezmann (3rd).

"I don't give too much importance to these things and I have always said that there are players with more marketing than me," Suarez told Ovacion.

The 29-year-old also revealed his aspirations for 2017 with Barcelona and Uruguay.

"I would like to have a good year, finish it well as a collective, fighting for everything with the club and qualifying directly for the World Cup with Uruguay, something we've not done for a while."
