Wydad Athletic Club president Hicham Ait Menna has reportedly taken personal charge of negotiations in an effort to expedite the signing of Thembinkosi Lorch.

The South African attacker has been a long-standing target for the record Botola Pro Inwi champions throughout the current transfer window. The Bloemfontein native initially joined the Moroccan outfit earlier this year to reunite with former coach Rulani Mokwena.
Although Mokwena has since left Wydad to take charge of Algerian giants MC Algers, Lorch appears to have made a lasting impression on the club and its supporters.
The 32-year-old played a key role in helping the Red Castle qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup and also impressed during the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States — performances that have strengthened Wydad’s resolve to bring him back.
Earlier in the window, the three-time CAF Champions League winners saw a bid for Lorch rejected by Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, that setback has not deterred the club. According to El Botola, Wydad have returned with an improved offer, and president Ait Menna is said to be prioritising the deal, particularly in response to fan outcry urging the club to re-sign the Bafana Bafana star.

There has been speculation about Lorch’s reluctance to return due to how he was treated during his previous stint in Casablanca, but the latest reports indicate that Wydad’s leadership are working hard to change his mind. Ait Menna and his fellow executives are now reportedly determined to convince the forward to wear the Wydad jersey once again.
