The 2024/25 campaign was the Capetonian’s first season with the Reds of Msimbazi. Having previously served as an assistant to Josef Zinnbauer at Raja Club Athletic during their historic unbeaten run in Morocco, Davids returned to head coaching by taking the reins in the Tanzanian capital.
Despite a trophyless season for Simba, the former striker did guide the club to their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup final – a milestone achievement that may have safeguarded his position for now, according to Transfermarkt.
There has been speculation around Davids’ future at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium throughout the off-season, with questions raised after the club failed to secure any silverware. However, Simba’s honorary president and principal investor, Mohammed ‘Mo’ Dewji, has expressed full confidence in the South African tactician following a review of the campaign.
“I am glad to have a meaningful conversation with Coach Fadlu — in his first season, with a new squad and a new technical bench, he has led Simba SC to the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup,” the Tanzanian chief captioned a picture on Instagram where he was standing alongside the former Orlando Pirates boss.
“Under coach Fadlu Davids, Simba has reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup, the second international final in the history of the club.
