The Ghanaian giants have confirmed the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as head coach on a two-year deal. The club announced the decision in an official statement this past weekend.
“We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey as our head coach for the next two years,” Asante Kotoko said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Zito is set to continue in the role after serving as interim head coach since April. Earlier this year, Ghana’s most successful club appointed the experienced tactician as Technical Director and tasked him with leading the first team following the sacking of former coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
He will now take full-time responsibility, with his first official assignment being the clash against Nasreddine Nabi’s charges.
The two sides will meet in the second annual Toyota Cup this weekend in Durban. It will mark the first time the Amakhosi faithful get to see their team in pre-season action following their recent tour of the Netherlands.

Chiefs won just one of their five matches in Europe but will be aiming to register a win on home soil as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign. Last season, they suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC in the first edition of the pre-season competition, and they’ll be hoping to right those wrongs this time around.
