The South African tactician’s departure from the Casablanca-based institution has still yet to be announced.
Mokwena did not take charge of Wydad’s final three league matches as he was placed on special leave, and while he waved goodbye to the club’s supporters on the final day of the season against Renaissance Zemamra, an official statement pertaining to his departure has yet to be released.
According to WinWin, this is because the Johannesburg native and Wydad are still in discussions over the termination of his contract.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss signed a three-year deal when he joined the North African giants, but it seems that poor results late in the campaign and a breakdown in the relationship with officials have led to him not completing his season.
It was alleged earlier in the season that Mokwena was willing to forego the remainder of the money owed to him on his contract should he fail to fulfil certain obligations, such as CAF Champions League qualification. However, the same report now claims that Wydad president Hicham Ait Menna is in discussions with the ex-Orlando Pirates boss’ representatives, as it is being suggested that Mokwena wants more of his dues than what was originally discussed.

Soccer Laduma contacted Mokwena’s agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, for clarity regarding the allegations, but he remained tight-lipped, saying: “I’m speaking to them (Wydad) and we’re trying to resolve everything and hopefully it will it will be done soon, that’s all I can say to you.”
