Riveiro has struggled for consistency since he joined Al Ahly from Orlando Pirates near the end of the 2024/25 season.
A winless FIFA Club World Cup campaign was coupled with a slow start to the new Egyptian Premier League season, as Al Ahly have picked up just five points from their first three games with one win and two draws.
Despite the unbeaten start, it has been Al Ahly's worst league start in a decade, heaping pressure on the Spaniard to turn things around with the Red Devils.
According to Kol Elkoora, Riveiro has been praised by renowned Egyptian football journalist Ahmed Shobeir. The ex-Al Ahly player called Riveiro a 'great coach', regardless of what the board decides to do with him.
Shobeir added that it was illogical for the club to part ways with him after the crucial clash against Pyramids FC or to do so as soon as December, as evaluating managers requires time.
He also expressed concern about the fact that some voices from outside the club were trying to impose their views on Riveiro's future, stating that the final decision lies with the board of directors.
The 64-year-old said it would be a big loss to the club should they part ways with the ex-Bucs tactician.

"If Riveiro leaves, I will say that Al Ahly has lost an important coach, and I declare this on Al Ahly’s channel without any consideration," he said.
"Any campaigns against me only make me more determined to speak the truth," he concluded.
