Thembinkosi Lorch has officially completed his permanent move to Wydad Athletic Club following his recent exit from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 32-year-old attacker has been unveiled as the record Moroccan champions’ latest acquisition ahead of the new season.
The move brings an end to a long-running transfer saga involving the South African international, with Lorch now a permanent signing for the Red Castle.
The Bloemfontein-born star first linked up with Wydad midway through the 2025/26 campaign at the request of then-head coach Rulani Mokwena. After impressing on loan in Casablanca, the club were determined to secure him permanently as they push to reclaim both domestic and continental glory.
Lorch’s performances in the Botola Pro Inwi helped Wydad finish third and return to continental competition via CAF Confederation Cup qualification. He also caught the eye at the FIFA Club World Cup with strong showings against the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain.

After the tournament, speculation intensified regarding Wydad’s desire to sign the former Orlando Pirates star permanently. Negotiations with continental rivals Sundowns were not straightforward, but the Casablanca giants have now wrapped up the deal, making Lorch their latest signing of the window.
