After months of speculation about Percy Tau's future, the 31-year-old made a surprising move to Nam Dinh to join forces with former Kaizer Chiefs star Njabulo Blom, who joined the side from St Louis City in the MLS.
Tau's move to Vietnam comes as a big surprise as it looked increasingly likely that he was set to return to Africa after leaving Al Ahly.
The South African left Qatar SC at the end of the 2024/25 season and became a free agent. Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, and Egyptian giants Zamalek were reportedly interested in signing the ex-Brighton forward.
With Tau now moving to Vietnam, he moves into the top 10 most valuable players in the V.League 1. Valued at €1 million (R20,5 million), the South African is the joint most valuable star in the league.
The top 10 includes six players from Nam Dinh, also including Blom, while there is one player each from Ha Noi FC, Ho Chi Minh City FC, Hong Linh Ha Tinh FC, and Cong An Ha Noi.
