Jose Mourinho has responded to reports linking him with the vacant Al Ahly managerial position following the sacking of Jose Riveiro.

The man known as the “Special One” is currently unemployed. At the end of August, the legendary head coach was dismissed by Turkish giants Fenerbahce after they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Benfica.
Following a tumultuous year together, the Yellow Canaries decided to part ways with the 62-year-old, making the esteemed tactician available on the market once again. One of the clubs understood to be interested in his services are record CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly.
The North African giants are also without a permanent manager after deciding to cut ties with Riveiro. The Spaniard lasted only three months in charge of the Red Devils, but after a 2-0 defeat to Egyptian Premier League title rivals Pyramids FC over the weekend, the Cairo club called time on his tenure.
It has since been claimed that Ahly are studying the CVs of several foreign coaches to replace the former Orlando Pirates manager, with Mourinho rumoured to be one of them. However, the Setubal native has poured cold water on the speculation. Quizzed by WinWin on whether he had been in discussions with Ahly, the trophy-laden manager said: “Nonsense.”

One name that has come to the forefront in recent days is that of Mourinho’s compatriot Paulo Bento. The former Portugal international has been out of management since March when he stepped down as head coach of the United Arab Emirates. While talks are believed to have taken place, the same publication reported that his appointment is unlikely due to his current reluctance to return to coaching.
