The Club of the Century recently parted ways with Jose Riveiro. After only three months and seven matches in charge, the Red Devils officially dismissed the Spaniard this past weekend following a 2-0 defeat to Egyptian Premier League title rivals Pyramids FC.

Former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has been touted as a potential successor, but alongside the LALIGA-winning manager, another name linked with the job is former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane.

The South African tactician is no stranger to Cairo, having previously managed Al Ahly between 2020 and 2022. He is regarded as one of the club’s most successful coaches, delivering their first CAF Champions League crown in seven years and winning six trophies in total. Mosimane also guided the Red Devils to back-to-back third-place finishes at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite his successful stint, former Al Ahly star Ahmad Bilal is strongly opposed to the idea of Mosimane’s return.

"I am against Pitso Mosimane's return, and I was against Ribeiro's selection. I do not support the idea of looking for a coach who works in African teams, because they are all inferior to Al Ahly,” Bilal said, as per Kooora.

Instead, Bilal believes the Egyptian giants need a proven manager with a track record of success to take charge during this international break.

"I hope to wait until a technical director is chosen who knows everything, and that he comes during the break so that he can be held accountable in the event of a stumbling block. Big teams cannot tolerate failed attempts by coaches, and big teams cannot tolerate more than three failures,” he added.
