Mokwena has been out of a coaching job since he parted ways with Moroccan side Wydad AC toward the end of last season, shortly before he was set to lead the club at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 38-year-old remains a hot commodity, and he is not short on options. Arab publication DZ Sport reported that the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss has now started negotiations with Algerian giants MC Alger to take charge of the team starting next season.
The club's management is reportedly looking to hire a top coach who can lead The Mouloudia to success domestically and on the continent. DZ Sport claim that Mokwena has received full support from the MC Alger board to try and appoint him for next season.
While Mokwena has not yet decided on his future club, previous reports have linked him to clubs across Africa. Egyptian sides Pyramids FC and Zamalek were reportedly considering hiring the Johannesburg-native.

There had also been rumours of a return to South Africa with his former side, Orlando Pirates. The most recent reports suggest there was a move to reigning Tanzanian Premier League champions Yanga SC.
