Koller was deemed surplus to requirements with the Red Devils following his elimination from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns last season.

It marked the end of a nearly three-year tenure as Al Ahly boss, where the Swiss coach walked away with 11 trophies.

However, Koller's dismissal from the 44-time Egyptian champions has not come without any issues as the 64-year-old is now demanding financial compensation for his time spent there.

According to WinWin, the coach issued a formal warning to the club's management and cited his financial demands. A source revealed that Koller is reportedly owed $3 million (R54 million), which includes a penalty clause for his contract termination, as well as the remaining financial entitlements from the last year of his contract.

The source also revealed that Koller's agent and the club had entered negotiations to try and come to an amicable solution to satisfy both parties.

Al Ahly's lawyer, Abdullah Shehata, is leading the negotiations on behalf of the club, who is keen to contain the situation with Koller as it believes there was a positive relationship between the two considering his success while in Egypt.

The source also revealed that Al Ahly officials had contacted Koller after it had received the warning, and hoped that the two would come to a solution without any legal complications.
