Wydad Athletic Club are reportedly making a last-ditch effort to secure the permanent signing of Thembinkosi Lorch, with the player’s agent set to meet the club in a bid to complete the deal.

According to Al Jarida 24, the forward’s representative, Steve Kapeluschnik, was set to land in Morocco on Thursday to try and orchestrate a move that would see the South African attacker join the Red Castle on a full-time basis.
Lorch joined the three-time CAF Champions League winners midway through the 2024/25 campaign and has impressed since his arrival — particularly during the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite the North African giants failing to win a match in the group stage, the 31-year-old’s performances against Manchester City and Juventus drew widespread praise.
Wydad opted not to activate the reported €700 000 (R14.4 million) purchase option in the loan deal for Cassius Mailula, another Mamelodi Sundowns player. However, determined not to lose both South African stars from this past season, the Moroccan outfit are making a strong push to retain the Bloemfontein-born attacker.
With his agent believed to have arrived on Thursday, the record Botola Pro Inwi champions are, according to the same report, hoping to apply pressure on Sundowns to negotiate more favourable terms for Lorch.

It is believed that Ka Bo Yellow are demanding €1 million (R20.6 million) for the Bafana Bafana international — a fee considered too high by Wydad. The club are reportedly doing everything possible to finalise the deal as soon as possible.
