Mailula joined the Moroccan side from Major League Soccer (MLS) side Toronto FC on a season-long loan for the 2024/25 season where he notched six goals and seven assists in 36 games, according to Transfermarkt.
Following the conclusion of Wydad's disappointing FIFA Club World Cup campaign, Mailula said that he had called it quits on time with the Red Castle.
"Dear Wydad Family. It is with a heavy heart that I write this message as I want to let you all know that I will not be continuing with the team for the upcoming season," he wrote on Instagram.
With Mailula making a return to Toronto, the 24-year-old spoke openly about his future ahead of the new season.
"You can't block an opportunity to come home," Mailula told MetroFM.
"It also depends on what they are offering, what their plan is with me. I can't say I'm going to close that door. It will be nice, but also I know that I'm very ambitious and my goal and dream is to still go to Europe," the South African international added.
Mailula admitted he was open to a move to Europe but would respect his contract with Toronto. He also admitted that he would prefer a return to Sundowns and would consider other options should negotiations fail.
Mailula's agent, Karabo Tshabuse, confirmed that her client received three offers, but she was unable to disclose which teams were interested in Mailula.
"Toronto have been so gracious, they have opened up to us giving them options. I have three offers on my desk at the moment, but we’re doing the same exercise," Tshabuse said.
She added: "I can reveal one [offer] is Egyptian, one of them is European, but baby Europe, not the top five leagues. To be honest, the local guys have shown just support for Cassius, to want to understand what is going on with him, he’s open to that, but at the moment we’re taking our time," she added.

"And [another offer from] the Middle East somewhere. We have considerations, but we might announce something completely different, it’s that time of the season," she concluded.
