Earlier in the transfer window, Soccer Laduma revealed that two of Israel’s biggest clubs — Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa — were seriously interested in signing the Orlando Pirates youngster. While both teams expressed a strong desire to acquire the Bafana Bafana star, it was only Haifa that formalised their interest by swiftly submitting a €1.4 million bid (R29 million). However, the player was not keen on making the move.
Maccabi Tel Aviv have since shifted their focus to another target. According to Africafoot, they are now nearing a deal to sign Congolese left winger Prestige Mboungou. This past season, the 22-year-old featured for Serbian side FK TSC Backa Topola, where he impressed with 13 goals and five assists.
The same report claims that talks over a potential deal began months ago, but negotiations are now in their final stages, with only minor details left to be finalised. The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days, barring any unexpected developments, as Mboungou is believed to be excited at the prospect of joining the club — unlike Mofokeng.
