With Morocco and Egypt already using Video Assistant Referee technology, another big league on the African will officially introduce the technology this weekend.
Botola Pro league, Egyptian Nile League and the Mauritian top-flight are the only leagues on the continent using VAR while the Champions League and Confederation Cup also makes use of the technology from the knockout stage.

Accoring to Pan African Football, the Video Assistant Referee will be making its debut in the Ivory Coast Ligue 1 this weekend.
The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) have confirmed that Mouna's clash against Stade d’Abidjan and Académie de FAD's encounter with Stella Adjame will have the technology.
Both encounters will take place at Robert Champroux Stadium on Saturday, 3 May.
This is not the first time VAR has been used in the Ivory Coast, after the West African country hosted the last Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 2024.
South Africa are also looking at getting the VAR technology after Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie revealed last month that ad was put out to find suitable service providers.
