Davids Side ‘Looking At' Long-Time Chiefs Target

Tanzanian giants Simba SC are reportedly looking at one of Kaizer Chiefs' most sought-after transfer targets to replace an outgoing star.

Simba head coach Fadlu Davids has shifted his focus toward the new season as the Reds of Msimbazi look to build on their successes of last year.

Despite not winning any silverware, Davids' side finished as the runner-up in both the Tanzanian Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup.

Now, his focus remains on building a strong team to challenge on all fronts next year, including the CAF Champions League.

According to Sportspesa Blog, Davids' side is looking at Azam FC's Feisal Salum as a replacement for Jean Ahoua, who has reportedly been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs and Josef Zinnbauer's JS Babylie in Algeria.

Ahoua was a pivotal component in Simba's attacking exploits last season with 16 goals and nine assists in the league, but Salum has been touted as a good replacement for the Ivorian attacker.

The Tanzanian, who finished the season as the league's top assister with 13 assists, added a further 4 goals. Salum is reportedly valued at 2 billion Tanzanian shillings (R13,7 million), which Simba view as too high considering he has one month left on his contract.

Azam's Head of Communications, Thabi Zakaria, revealed that the club was aware of the interest in Salum but felt the player would remain with Azam.

"Fei is Azam’s property," he said.

"We are preparing for the new season. We ask our fans to remain calm—something big is coming. In football, things are always clear, and they should get ready to cheer for Fei at Azam FC,” he concluded.
