Elias Mokwana's Esperance de Tunis have been hit with a hefty fine by the Tunisian football authorities for what transpired during their Super Cup victory, a match in which the Bafana Bafana star scored.

According to WinWin, the Blood and Gold have been fined 5,000 Tunisian Dinars (R29 310) by the Disciplinary and Sportsmanship Committee of the Tunisian Football Federation.
A few weeks ago, Mokwana and his teammates laid claim to their first title of the campaign when they defeated Stade Tunisien 2-0 in the Supercoupe final. The former Sekhukhune United man opened the scoring for the North African giants in the encounter's second half before Youcef Belaili found the back of the net to put the game beyond doubt.
However, while the Tunis-based side added a seventh Super Cup title to their illustrious history, trouble ensued in the stands.
It is alleged that riots took place in the stands during the match, and now Esperance have subsequently been punished. On top of being handed a significant fine, the record Ligue Professionnelle 1 champions will not be allowed to sell tickets to their supporters for the next three matches, with only season ticket holders being permitted to attend their upcoming fixtures.

It is understood that the Disciplinary and Sportsmanship Committee of the Tunisian Federation is responsible for issuing decisions related to the Tunisian Cup and Super Cup competitions, as well as imposing penalties on club presidents.
