The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has released a statement after it was claimed Mohamed Salah refused to be substituted in Egypt's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Guinea-Bissau on Monday.

The Liverpool winger rescued a point for the Pharaohs in Group A after scoring in the 70th minute to secure a 1-1 draw away from home with his first international goal since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Following his strike, it appeared Hossam Hassan had readied Mostafa Fathi and Nasser Maher to come on as second-half substitutions, but only the latter was brought on.
It had been suggested that Fathi was due to enter the field to replace Egypt's 31-year-old captain before he sat back down, but the EFA has insisted Salah was not, at any point, going to be substituted.
"There is absolutely no truth to the rumours that Mohamed Salah refused to leave the pitch," a statement from the EFA read, according to KingFut.
"Salah was not going to be substituted off in the first place. Hossam Hassan was content with only bringing on Nasser Maher."
