Salah Rescues Egypt, Ghana Clinch Back-To-Backs

Ghana 4-3 Central African Republic

Ghana won back-to-back matches in Group I after edging Central African Republic in a seven-goal thriller thanks to a hat-trick by Jordan Ayew at Baba Yara Stadium.

Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for Ghana within the first five minutes from the penalty spot.

Louis Mafouta levelled matters for the visitors six minutes later and gave them a surprise lead just before the interval and also completed his brace.

However, Jordan Ayew equalised for the Black Stars on the hour-mark and also completed his brace.

Issahaku Fatawu restored the lead for the hosts two minutes later and Jordan Ayew finally gave Ghana breathing space in the last 21 minutes after making it 4-2 and completed his hat-trick.

Mafouta pulled a goal back for CAR in the last minute and also completed a hat-trick but the Black Stars held on to maximum points.

Guinea-Bissau 1-1 Egypt

Group A leaders Egypt's perfect start came to an end after a 1-1 draw against Guinea-Bissau Estádio 24 de Setembro.

Mama Balde, of Olimpique Lyonnais broke the deadlock for Guinea-Bissau shortly before the half-time break.

Howevr, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah rescued at least a point for the Pharaohs with the equaliser 20 minutes before time.

Burkina Faso 2-2 Sierra Leone

Burkina Faso squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Sierra Leone at Stade du 26 Mars.

Dango Ouattara broke the deadlock for Burkina Faso just before the interval and Lassina Traore doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time.

Augustus Karoso reduced the deficit for Sierra Leone just before the hour-mark and Amadou Bakayoko equalised for the Leone Stars two minutes before time.

Uganda 1-2 Algeria

Algeria returned swiftly to winning ways in Group G after a narrow 2-1 win over Uganda at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

Travis Mutyaba opened the scoring for the Cranes inside the first ten minutes but Houssem Aouar levelled matters for Algeria just after the interval.

Former West Ham United attacker Said Benrahma found the winner for the Desert Foxes shortly before the hour-mark.

Guinea 0-1 Mozambique

Mozambique clinched back-to-back victories to go up to second in Group G after a last-gasp 1-0 win over Guinea at Ben M'Hamed El Abdi Stadium.

After a goalless first stanza, Mozambique were eventually awarded a penalty in the last minute which was converted by Geny Catamo.
