The former striker was arrested in Yaounde and brought before the public prosecutor for alleged fraud and a breach of trust in his case against his former teammate and current Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana, to whom he allegedly owes €100,000 (R2 million), according to Cameroun Web.
The publication reported that Olinga has spent 48 hours in jail as he was unable to pay back the former Ajax goalkeeper, despite his good standing with the Cameroon Football Federation President (Fecafoot) Samuel Eto'o.
"After spending the night in the cell of the Central Police Station 1 in Yaounde, Fabrice Olinga returns to the prosecutor's cell," an activist said.
"During the day yesterday (Wednesday), no one wanted to act as guarantor so he could spend the night at home," the activist continued.
According to Afrik Foot, Olinga reportedly openly criticised Andre Onana, where the two reportedly went back and forth with each other on social media.

"I was a loyal friend, and he wasn’t, we will never be able to sit at the same table again,” Olinga said. The accusations prompted the goalkeeper to counterattack, considering that these comments amounted to defamation.
